Ashley Borman Resume

Statement:

I am a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a Bachelors of Arts in History and a Bachelors of Science in Human Development searching for a full time position in a public or academic library. I would like to gain experience in a non-professional library position before or while pursuing a Master's Degree in Library Science.

I have various experiences that are beneficial to working in a library. I recently had an internship at the Cofrin Library at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where I learned basic cataloging skills under the supervision of the Library Processing Coordinator. During my internship, I also had a chance to shadow at the reference desk, where I learned some techniques in aiding students and community members in research. I have also volunteered in the past at my hometown public and high school libraries where I have gained experience with circulation operations and communication skills between staff members and patrons.

I am very skilled at working with different people, and helping anyone from students to teachers to community members with ideas about how to find what they are looking for in their research through electronic sources, as well as searching for books in library catalog’s. I am very motivated to help people and I feel very accomplished when I know I have helped someone find the answers or resources they are searching for.

Nanette S. Bulebosh / Resume

Statement:

I am an experienced librarian with proven competencies in administration and staff development, project planning and implementation, budgeting and grant writing, community engagement and customer relations.  I am looking for a job in library management or teaching.   I would love to join a team of innovative thinkers who are not afraid to experiment, who adopt a forward-thinking “I’m game for a new challenge” attitude toward technology, who relish their contacts with the public, and who truly enjoy their jobs.

As a library director I emphasized exceptional patron service, creative use of human, financial and other resources, and continuous improvement.  We never stopped seeking new ways to enhance the user experience. I won grants totaling more than $25,000 and balanced out budget seven years in a row. I can be detail-oriented when necessary, but I never forget the big picture.  Covey's "begin with the end in mind" directive has always served me and my employers well.

As a teacher, I challenged my students to reach beyond their comfort zones and to back up their assertions with facts and persuasive evidence. My specialty was writing instruction, but I’ve also taught information literacy, mass media, contemporary literature, photography, and acting.  I have experience teaching all age levels, but I’m best at teaching young adults and the elderly.  I love teaching computer literacy to new users.

In short, I would bring to your organization a diverse and immediately useful set of skills.

Geoffrey Hooker/ Resume

Statement:

I am a recent MLS graduate (August 2009) from Indiana University SLIS-Indianapolis.  My long term goal is to obtain a cataloging position in an academic library in the colder parts of the Central Time Zone; I realize that this might not happen in my first professional library position.  I completed my MA in mathematics from Saint Louis University ten years ago, and completed all but the thesis of an MA in Linguistics from North Dakota.

My main strength (on paper, at least) is my teaching experience: 7 years full-time at the community college level, plus various part-time courses, all in mathematics. I also completed an associate's degree at my local community college before my bachelor's at a small liberal arts college.

Michael Noh/ Resume

Statement:

I am a recent graduate from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology looking to gain experience in a non-professional library position before pursuing a Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies.  I am now located in Madison, Wisconsin and I am looking for full time/part time employment not only to support myself, but to gain valuable experience.

At my prior job at UNLV, I conducted research in a laboratory requiring extensive technological knowledge as well as interpersonal skills.  I was required to build a database from scratch, design and implement studies using undeveloped psychology software, and maintain the laboratory website.  Additionally, I was in charge of meeting and greeting families, explaining studies to them, running them through studies, and debriefing.

Additionally, throughout the past two years I have been in positions of leadership requiring extensive self-motivation.  From my mix of previous research work and experience, I can truly say that I understand the importance of hard work and dedication. I am efficient, responsible and fully capable of working with others. I know that the combination of my education and enthusiasm to excel will make me a valuable asset to your workplace.
